New F-1 student will need to apply for the F-1 visa. Follow the instructions below to complete the I-20 process. Once this process has been completed, students will need to complete the remaining enrollment steps.
It is highly recommended that you do not make travel arrangements prior to receiving your visa.
1. Receive the I-20
2. Pay SEVIS I-901 Fee
The SEVIS I-901 fee is required for all F-1 visa students. Once you receive your Form I-20, go to the SEVIS I-901 fee processing website for instructions on paying your SEVIS fee.
3. Apply for visa/schedule interview
4. Make travel arrangements
If your Visa is approved, plan to arrive in the United States two to four weeks before the program start date. Students may NOT enter the U.S. more than 30 days before this date. They must enter the U.S. by the program start date on the I-20 form to avoid being turned away at the U.S. port-of-entry.
5. Contact the Director of Admissions
Contact to inform her of your anticipated arrival date and schedule an appointment with the international academic advisor. Inform the Director of Admissions of this appointment date so final required documents can be submitted before your advising appointment.
