University of Arkansas - Pulaski Technical College offers testing at the Main Campus in North Little Rock and the Little Rock South Campus near the Pulaski and Saline County line. The Testing Center at the main campus is located in Campus Center Building, Room 240. Testing Services at the South campus are located in the Student Services Building.

Dates and times of testing can be found on the Testing Calendar. All other testing related questions can be directed to TestingCenter@uaptc.edu or calling (501) 812-2787.

Testing Center Information:

  • Students must sign in for “Testing Services” on the hallway computers outside of room 240 to take any test.
  • Students must present a valid photo ID before taking any test.
  • Fees for tests must be paid at the Cashier’s Office prior to testing. There are no refunds for testing fees.
  • No food or drink is allowed in the Testing Center.
  • All electronics, including cell phones, calculators or other devices must be turned OFF.
  • Children are not allowed in the Testing Center and may not be left unattended on campus.
  • Students who require disability accommodations when testing should contact Disability Services(Point to Disability Services page) at least one week before they plan to test.
  • The Testing Proctor reserves the right to dismiss any student who is disruptive during testing.
  • Students taking the ACCUPLACER test need to have their Social Security Number available.

Tests Offered:

ACCUPLACER:

The ACCUPLACER assessment measures math, reading and writing abilities. The ACCUPLACER test determines whether students need to take developmental courses. First time college students must score a 55 or higher on the ACCUPLACER reading test to be admitted to UA - Pulaski Technical College.

You will be required to take the ACCUPLACER before being admitted to UA-PTC if:

  • You have never attended college and have not taken the ACT or ACCUPLACER.
  • You did not score a 13 or above on the Reading section of the ACT or a 55 or above on the Reading section of the ACCUPLACER.
  • It has been 5 years or longer since you have taken the ACT, COMPASS, or ACCUPLACER, and you have not successfully completed reading, writing, or math coursework.
  • If you have attended college but have not successfully completed Composition I or College Algebra, you will be required to take the ACCUPLACER for placement purposes

ACCUPLACER Fee:

  • There is a $20 non-refundable fee to take all sections of the ACCUPLACER (reading, writing, and math).
  • There is a $10 non-refundable fee to take only one (1) section of the ACCUPLACER. When making payment, please have the exact amount on hand and during after business hours.
  • Test proctors do not have cash.

ACCUPLACER Preparation Materials:

You can utilize our ACCUPLACER preparation materials to get ready for the test. We encourage all students utilize these resources. The ACCUPLACER determines placement into Reading, Writing, and Mathematics courses. Preparing for this test can save a student time and money.

KAPLAN TEST:

The KAPLAN (Nursing Entrance Test) is required for admission to the Practical Nursing program at UA - Pulaski Technical College. The KAPLAN is given and may only be taken twice (2 times) from mid-January until Mid-April. The KAPLAN is given the first Saturday of each month. The KAPLAN is a timed test and takes approximately 3 hours to complete. The KAPLAN test is $50.

CAPE (Computer Adaptive Placement Exam):

Computer Adaptive Placement Exams (CAPE’s) are designed to assess the student’s skill level in Spanish, French, or German. The CAPE allows for accurate placement in Spanish, French, or German courses without meeting prerequisite courses. Students do not earn credits by taking the CAPE.

CAPE is offered in the Testing Center at the Main Campus (2nd floor of the Campus Center Building, Room 240) on Tuesday’s 9:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Wednesday’s 9:30 a.m. – 2 p.m.

CAPE is offered at the Little Rock-South site Thursday (Student Services, Room 101) from 9:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.

  • There is no fee for the test
  • Students may only test twice in one day
  • The test is not timed and lasts approximately 15-30 minutes
  • Results are printed immediately after completion of the assessment
  • No food, drinks, and/or children are allowed in the Testing Center
  • Cell phones must be turned OFF and placed in locked cabinet
  • A valid photo ID with name (Driver’s License, state ID, student ID, etc.) is required

Typing Test:

The Typing Placement Exam measures current skill level in keyboarding to place students in the correct Keyboarding course. Students do not earn credits by taking the Typing Test but can be placed into keyboarding courses without taking prerequisite keyboarding courses based on their scores. There is no fee for the typing test. The typing test usually takes 5-10 minutes to complete.

The Typing Test can be taken at Main Campus, Campus Center Building, room 240 during the following times:

Tuesday - 9:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Wednesday - 9:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

Proctored Exams for non UA-PTC Students:

Students not currently enrolled at UA-PTC can take proctored online or pencil and paper exams at the UA-PTC Testing Center. Colleges will be assessed a $35 fee per proctored exam. Proctored exams can be scheduled by contacting the Testing Center at TestingCenter@uaptc.edu or calling (501) 812-2787.

Credit by Examination:

Credit by examination evaluation for CLEP, AP, DANTES, or certification and licensures, etc is available under the college’s Prior Learning Assessment policy.
