UA-PTC CAHMI faculty teach kids healthy cooking
Chef Alicia Watson, UA-PTC Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management Institute faculty member, spent the afternoon Dec. 18 at Exalt Academy of Southwest Little Rock, where she engaged elementary-aged students in a lesson in culinary arts.
The class discussed using food as medicine as they prepared a Mexican plant-based meal, including delicious and nutritious zucchini tacos on freshly made tortillas. The demonstration was part of the college’s ongoing efforts at community outreach. An American Culinary Federation grant funded the initiative.
Exalt Academy is a private school that prepares students from educationally under-served areas of Southwest Little Rock for competitive colleges and advanced careers.
