UA-Pulaski Technical College on Tuesday hired Dr. Marla J. Strecker as its new provost.
Strecker of Maumelle is currently the Senior Associate Director of Academic Affairs, Research and Analytics for the Arkansas Department of Higher Education, a job she has held since January 2017. She joined ADHE in February 2016 as Senior Associate Director for Research and Analytics. Before that, she worked at Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia where she has held three directorships since 2013 – as Director of the Higher, Adult, and Lifelong Learning Graduate Program; as Director of the Educational Leadership Graduate program; and later as Director of the Division for Transitional Studies as well as Assistant Professor of Education.
At UA-Pulaski Tech, Dr. Strecker will provide senior administrative leadership for academic instruction. She begins the new job on Sept. 11.
Dr. Strecker holds a Doctorate of Education in Higher Education Leadership from UA Fayetteville and a Master of Liberal Arts in English and a Bachelor of Arts in English, both from Henderson State University.
Strecker was the successful candidate that UA-PTC’s 10-member search committee interviewed for the job. The committee was made up of administrators, deans, Faculty and Staff Senate presidents, and other faculty and staff.
“The committee and I were very impressed with Dr. Strecker’s experiences in higher education, both at the college and state levels as well as her dedication to student success,” said Dr. Margaret Ellibee, chancellor at UA-Pulaski Tech.
