Introduction to Bee Keeping

UA-PTC is partnering with the Midwest Master Beekeeper Program to offer this exciting Beginner Beekeeper course! This class will focus on the principles of beekeeping which include: the history of beekeeping, honeybee biology, plant and pollinator relationships, and essential equipment and requirements.

The Midwest Master Beekeeper certification program consists of six levels: Beginner Beekeeper, Apprentice Beekeeper, Journeyman Beekeeper, Junior Master Beekeeper, Master Trainer, and Master Beekeeper. By the end of this first course, individuals will be able to help experienced beekeepers in the management of hives.

The Beginner Beekeeper course is a 5 hour course that will be split into two 2.5 hour classes. The first class will be held Tuesday, February 5 from 6-8:30 p.m. and the second class on Thursday, February 7 from 6-8:30 p.m.

The $61 registration fee for this course includes the two classes and a beekeeping book used as a study guide for examinations. The class is taught by an experienced local beekeeper.

Pre-registration is required.

Card Making Workshop

Construct 12 hand-made greeting cards with creative card maker, Kay Cogbill. Whether you are an experienced scrap booker, just starting out, or somewhere in between, this hands-on class will be fun for everyone.

The $60 registration fee covers ink, adhesives, embellishments, cute card storage box and coordinating ribbon

Dog Training 101

This is the perfect class for you and your four-legged friend. Dogs 16 weeks old and up will benefit greatly from the experience of this class.

Join dog trainer Candee Teitel of Oh Behave Dog School, in this interactive, dog-friendly class. You will learn about a new and innovative method of dog training called Concept Training. Through the use of games, we can help you build a strong relationship with your dog, build the desire in your dog to focus on you, help your dog think when in a state of high arousal, and value remaining close to you above all else. This method is perfect for puppies, rescue dogs, anxious and shy dogs, and certainly for those Naughty but Nice dogs!
